My project for course: Picturebook Illustration: Explore Color and Composition

I love this stage! Once my composition was figured out from all the work Id done on the previous units I could now play with colour and figure out which balanced colour palette I liked best. Unlike these colour sketches I often dont draw the whole image but little sections of it to make it quicker.

I start off with the layer with most information first. I then work on the other two layers using a light box with paper laid over this first layer for guidance.
Here I'm using a mechanical pencil, but feel free to use which ever medium you like!

All three layers are scanned and coloured in photoshop- The 'Multiply tool' is very useful in this process. And now Ive finished my final project!

But you can take this project further after the course and write your full story and create a full story board to make into your own dummy book....
