Grand Chinoiserie

When I think of my "dream space," I envision myself in an elegant, lush garden filled with flowering trees, beautiful French trellises, and added accents of colorful butterflies and birds.

This cake illustrates that space, pulling from various inspirations portraying chinoiserie elements: wallpapers and murals, garden trellises, wainscot moldings and trims, and images from nature in a unified color theme. Along with the painted elements, this cake plays with inconsistent tier sizes, both in diameter and height: doing this creates visual interest and movement in the cake while allowing for breaks between tiers, or what I like to identify as storylines.
