When working on an opera production even the slightest details can help setting the mood and the often neglected graphic proops (like letters, books, newspaper and, in this case even money) can add a nice touch to the scene. Obviously they are made to be seen from far away and the main caracteristic to work with are the colours and the texture.
This pink dollars were requested for the shortest opera in the world, A hand of Bridge by Samuel Barber, that lasts only nine minutes and depict the stream of cousciousness and the fantsies of the four caracters. The director Fabio Ceresa wanted to embody the idea of the "pink glasses" to define the moments in wich the visions of the caracters entered the scene.
At the end of the show theywere also a nice souvenir for all the members of the catr to keep and remember this short but intense experience.
