Shodo: Introduction to Japanese Calligraphy

Excellent course! 100% recommendable!!

I recently went to Japan and I felt inspired by everything, especially by this type of art. This course seems very good to me to start in the art of shodo art.

The basics of Shodo are taught in a very pleasant way.

History of calligraphy, use of materials and technique clearly explained. I especially liked the lesson on Mushin (the body-mind connection), which helps to understand both the Zen culture related to Japanese calligraphy and how to best prepare for the practice with stretching exercises and meditation.

Best shodo course. Rie Takeda truly embodies the spiritual vision of Japanese calligraphy. At first I understood that these were just ordinary writing exercises that can be found everywhere. Immensely grateful to the teacher and the domestika training school.

This course has taken me back to my Japanese roots and for that I a so grateful. Also to have a mindful practice to add to my meditative routine. It's history is so beautiful and deep and allows me to express myself further with truth and honesty and hope.

This course is exactly what I've searching for years, a great introduction to Shodo - the way of calligraphy. Rie Takeda explains all the basic techniques and provides all the support we need with comprehensive exercises and additional resources. My favorite thing is the fact that we learn the skills at the same time that we are given access to the spiritual aspect of this ancient art.

Wonderful course! The skills I've learned here have had benefits beyond calligraphy. They have also helped me as an illustrator in drawing cleaner, more expressive and intentional line work. Even though my kanji writing knowledge is very limited, I will continue to practice the exercises and strokes I've learned. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!

It is very nice to receive an explanation and example from Rie Takeda.
I go at my own pace, taking time to master step by step and exercise by exercise before moving on to the next, which is possible in this course.
It is very nice to get extra advice when purchasing the materials.
