Learn to illustrate atmospheric scenes inspired by manga, from composition and character design to line art and shading

How can you create an atmosphere that captivates your audience? This is the specialty of Liya Weng, better known as Mochipanko, whose artwork draws viewers into her illustrated world through their rich details. Her characters and compositions are inspired by Japanese art and culture, particularly manga and anime, and have caught the attention of major gaming companies like Steam and Bandai Namco, with whom she collaborates as a freelance artist.

In this online course, she teaches you how to create manga-inspired illustrations from scratch. Learn to develop a composition, create color palettes, and design your own characters in Procreate and Photoshop, shaping every aspect from the background down to the elaborate details. By the end, you'll know how to convey any idea or emotion through compelling illustrations and vibrant compositions.

Liya Weng, better known as Mochipanko, is a Hamburg-based artist. Although she studied interior design, her passion for creative drawing quickly rerouted her onto a career path as a freelance illustrator, designer, and tattoo artist. Her style is heavily influenced by Japanese culture and art, especially manga and anime, which she's loved since she was a child.

As a result of these influences, her art often transmits a sense of calm, warmth, and nostalgia. Her personal projects include illustrations, comics, merchandise, and tattoos, which she sells through her online shop as well as at manga and anime fairs or events. The bulk of her clients belong to the gaming industry and her illustrations have seen wide-spread use, from the cover of a soundtrack for a Bandai Namco game to background images for Steam profiles.
