The Family

Another bizarre project for my friend Mark Parker of Nike, this was a surreal 'family' of mutated hillbillies living in the mountains, existing in squalor while the "sophisticated' world around them goes about its silly business. I've always liked the idea of outliers in society, and this opportunity to express it in a fine art piece was a great experience. Each figure was handcrafted in Sculpey and painted carefully, with a diorama made from model parts and carefully crafted miniatures: Cinderblocks, tires, a stack of old newspapers bundled together, even an obsolete, rusted toilet seat are visible. I was very happy with this piece.
