Primitiveness in an urban environment is something so close and at the same time distant. It allows us to realize our attachment to nature, remembering that we are still part of this amazing planet. And although city streets may be everywhere, primitiveness remains in us, ready to break through to the surface at any moment.
Times change, but primitive instincts remain unchanged. Even in the modern urban environment, where concrete jungles displace nature, and technology penetrates into all spheres of our life, the echo of primitive times continues to resound.
The streets of the city turn into arenas where each person defends his territorial instinct. Primitiveness is revealed in rivalry, aggression and strength. Here, amid the battle for a parking space, street fights and endless traffic jams, a person tries to assert his presence and express his power.
But primitiveness also makes its way through the gray facades of buildings. In city apartments, in the shards of trees in front rooms, in cafes heated by fireplaces, you can hear the whispers of human ancestors. The encounter with the wild nature, lost among the concrete jungle, sometimes turns out to be more primitive than it would seem at first glance. The smell of the earth after the rain, the sound of a jet of water from a fountain, the touch of leaves on city squares – all this awakens long-forgotten instincts, reminding of the roots that go deep into the ground.
Ultimately, freedom is a superiority over our basic instincts. It lies in our ability to be aware and choose, and not just be puppets obeying their whims. We can enjoy the manifestation of primitive freedom, but to have true freedom is what real maturity requires of us.
