For all those that want to create images that tell a story with dynamic characters and create scenes that communicate a clear concept. This course is also useful for those who want to learn illustration techniques on Adobe Photoshop and create their own brushes.

Requirements and materials

To take this course, you need basic drawing skills, general notions of how to use the tools on Adobe Photoshop (such as Paintbrush, gradients, Lasso, Cloning, etc), and some experience in drawing with a graphics tablet.

As for materials, you need a computer with Adobe Photoshop and a graphics tablet. To create your digital paintbrushes with analog techniques, you need sheets of textured paper (Fabriano, Sundance, Rosaspina, etc.), black India ink, black acrylic paint, a sponge, a stiff bristle paintbrush, a soft-haired paintbrush, a roller, and a mixing tray.

Jimena Estíbaliz is a Mexican illustrator specialized in editorial illustration. After her studies in Design and Visual Communication in UNAM, Mexico, she was an assistant to Juan Palomino, which began her path into illustration as a full-time career. She then pursued studies in Narrative Illustration, which allowed her to hone her personal style as an illustrator.

Her passion lies in telling her own personal stories and those of others through her illustrations. She has created book covers and illustrations for editorials such as Random House, Planeta, and for Mexican institutions such as the Secretary of National Culture, the Secretary of Public Education, and the Ministry of Education of Culture and Sports for the Spanish Embassy. She has also illustrated for magazines like Tierra Adentro, Letras Libres, KM 0 Chilango, and Palacio de Hierro and worked with musicians like Silvana Estrada, Alex Ferreira, and Pasión Vega, creating their posters, album covers, and more.

She has won the Cartel de la 39 Filij contest, was selected in the IX Catálogo Iberoamericano 2018, and was a finalist for the Silent Book Contest 2018 of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair.
